Last Minute Valentine-ing?

When I think of Valentine's Day, I always picture a slickly dressed man with a box of chocolate under one arm and a HUGE bouquet of red roses in the other hand. I don't even want to image in my head, it is involuntarily there, thanks Hallmark. But there is still hope for those of you that haven't ordered your roses.

Personally, I like roses but if I am going to have something in the house, especially in February (dreary winter!) I want cheery, whimsy, Spring-like flowers. Go to Costco. No joke. You can get a mixed bunch, you can get two garden bunches and mix them together, or for a huge effect, buy ten. For instance, I guarantee, if you aren't there by opening Friday or Saturday, you will probably not get those sought after roses BUT think of what your gal would like. I personally love hydrangeas and peonies. For some reason my husband has always thought I am a daisy girl. NOT SO! (maybe he will read this and it might get through, not that I am complaining about receiving flowers). So boys, do your homework, have some flowers in mind, even yellow roses mixed with the twigs or tulips Costco sells as a bundle. And, to make it all the sweeter, a heartfelt love letter. Really. We are not that mysterious. And, more thought goes into finding just the right bunch of flowers, than the red rose - although if her favorite flower is the red rose, you should have planned ahead.

ladies, you can email any one of these posts directly to your husbands email or, email us and we'll do it for you. - mavis

I had to spell it out to my husband that I prefer a wild bunch of mixed flowers over a dozen red roses any day of the week. He honestly didn't know. Guys need to be taught! :-)

I'll second the motion that you can never go wrong with flowers! Add a box of milk chocolate and you've got a sure winner! It's really quite simple :)

Christy, agreed, husbands need constant teaching. April, peonies are the perfect flower anytime, I grew up with them in our backyard and only remember that before they opened they had this sticky sweet nectar on them. Suzana - flowers and sweets, perfect.

Costco does have great flowers. I often buy bunches of them just because.
