Memorial Day

Ever wonder about this day? In visiting the cemetery yesterday, Dave and I were wondering if it was a day to honor fallen military or a day to honor all those that have been lost. There were so many people visiting graves yesterday- even more today, I am sure.

I don't think I reflect often enough on the sacrifice countless men and women have made for me - people I have never met but were brave enough and selfless enough to make sure that I had the freedom and liberty that America is built upon. And to be grateful to the ones who are still defending us today. (Anyone else start humming a Lee Greenwood song? Just me?)

And, regardless of what it began as, I appreciate that there is a day when all are encouraged to visit loved ones that have left us, spend time reminiscing, laughing and crying. Hopefully you spend today surrounded by people you love and are able to shed tears that will also make you smile.

Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, love leaves a memory no one can steal. ~From a headstone in Ireland

Here is more information about Memorial Day. Also, if want to see a great series, see Band of Brothers. We watched it when it first ran on HBO and were enveloped by it. You will love it. thanks for the reminder petit elefant
