Dove asked me to chime in (or chirp in, as the case may be) from time to time about things I like. I'll probably stick to movies, but don't hold me to that.
I recently saw Vicky Cristina Barcelona. Here's my review:
Woody Allen? Seriously? You’re telling me Woody Allen directed this? But it’s shot in Spain, not New York. No, really, Woody Allen? To say I had given up on his ability to create anymore worthwhile films would be an understatement. I’ve been disappointed far too many times in the last 10+ years. So you can believe me when I say I was gravely suspicious of all the positive press surrounding his latest. At long last, old Woody delivers.
The film is gorgeous—I visual love poem to the city of Barcelona and the surrounding area. I’ve walked the steps of that ancient city myself and have a hard time pulling up memories that are more pretty to look at than many scenes in VCB. The cast is just as beautiful. Acting? Come on. Perfect. Story is ok—a bit convoluted. I’m not thrilled with the unfulfilling end either, but overall, a great effort.
Rating: B+
P.S. I asked Supercords to contribute because he takes the time that I don't to wade through movies & music. His recommendations are usually fantastic (well, at least to me...we have similar taste). And beyond media, he's also super cool because he goes on RAD adventures. Read about them on his blog. -Dove

Thanks for the 411, Supercords. I've been curious about this myself & will add it to my queue.
Hmmm I hate unfilling endings, but I love seeing new cities on film. I'll it to my queue. But OMG I just clicked on his site - what an amazing athelete! 50K across the desert in ONE DAY?! Unbelievable.
