Giveaway!

I like Dove's idea of a sort of interview of our featured artist hosting our giveaway. If you scroll down a few posts you will see my Etsy finds of the week. Well one artisan, graphic artist, blogger extraordinaire is hosting this weeks giveaway by providing not one but 3 prizes. That means 3 lucky winners. And I mean lucky, as in do a leprechanish jig because 3 of you will win.

Who is our lovely hostess? Lindsay of Penny People Designs. Lindsay not only sells in her Etsy shop, but also at her own store. Why do you need to know this? Because when you go to this site and inevitably decide to order something, Lindsay is offering our readers 10% off your order starting today March 6th until March 13th when you enter the promotion code code Save10 into the promo code box at checkout. So really, aren't we all winners? What do you win in our random drawing? 3 lovely, lucky readers will win one 8x10 Alphabet Print each!

Now let's get to know our fair Lindsay, shall we?

When did you decide to make graphic art your career?

As many artists will say, art is something that was something they knew that they wanted to do from an early age. I am no different as art came as a natural outlet for me as a child. I had parents that encouraged art in all forms – My Father has a love of art & technology, and when I was 5 years old, he bought me a Graphic Tablet. (this is going way back, when Commodor 64’s were still around) I’ve always have learnt best on my own, figuring things out, so it’s not surprising to those close to me to know that I’ve never formally studied art or technology, I had a great love of tinkering, and figuring things out on my own. I grew up with my Dad having TONS of fonts on his computer, and so my love of fonts, again, was fuelled by him showing me the different ways that fonts could impact a design. I’m lucky because what I always did as my passion & hobby is now what I get to do all day.

What is a typical day like for you?

I have an amazing set up that I can work from home – so each day is uniquely different. Each day does start off with a cup of coffee that is left for me by my husband, and then I start the day by replying to a lot of e-mails, sending proofs to customers, printing orders, and trying to get a blog post in, or writing on Twitter. So, 90% of the time, I’m at my desk. Being a business owner means that sometimes the business side takes over your days, but I’m a creative at heart and sometimes I just need to go out and find inspiration. So some days I’ll leave the e-mail and work feverishly on designs if a creative spurt comes, or go read some design magazines. Working from home is absolutely fantastic – Some people think that it would be hard to focus on work when working from home however I find that it’s actually hard to separate yourself from work, as it’s always here. My husband can leave his job at the office, but I’ll be back in my studio at 2am if I forgot to do something, or reply to a client. So it’s always about finding a nice balance.

Where do you see yourself in 4 1/4 years?

I hope that I’m doing what I’m doing right now. I’m busy, fulfilled, and have an amazing group of customers that I have gotten to get to know. The only change I can see is being in a bigger studio, which is actually in the works/ renovations right now. I’d love to also be part of other things – As a creative, I’m always looking for fun new things, so I’m open to what the future will bring.
If you were an animal, which one and why?

Ohhh, I would be a Koala. Apparently Koalas spend about three of their five active hours eating. And that sounds pretty fantastic to me! Plus – they are just pretty darn cute.

I kind of love this Lindsay gal.

So my lucky little ducklings, what do you need to do to enter?
1. Go to the Penny People shop, have a look around and leave a comment telling us what your favorite thing about her shop is.
2. To receive another entry, email 4 of your friends about the giveaway or our blog and CC us on the email (wechirp@gmail.com), including our blog address in the message. One email per participant, I mean you can email as many people as you want (and we would love that) but only one entry will be counted.

3. To receive 2 entries, blog about his giveaway on your blog and then leave us a comment on this post telling us about it (include your blog address).

4. Another entry? Place our We Chirp button on your sidebar and leave us a comment with your blog address. If you have already done that weeks ago, just tell us again.

4 ways to get 5 entries and did I mention 3 chances to win? Contest ends Wednesday the 11th at 11:59 pm MST.

This contest is only open to U.S. and Canada residents.

Wanna know my favorite? I would get one of her calling cards and have just Mavis put on it, with the we chirp art. It would be so... dorky mysterious, right? Or the Alphabet Print that 3 of you are going to win. Kiss me later

~mavis

And don't forget, if you can't wait to win, or can wait to win but also want some new paper goodness, Lindsay is offering to our readers 10% off your order starting today March 6th until March 13th when you enter the promotion code code Save10 into the promo code box at checkout.

I love her designs. I wish I had ordered her Mod Birth Announcements last summer when my daughter was born. And when my current address labels run out, I'm ordering new ones from her. I have her bookmarked for future use! Love this site and this giveaway!

The love address label, new nest. Too cute!

If I'd known about her when my daughter was born, maybe I would have actually sent out birth announcements (instead of thinking about it for months, but not actually doing anything). I especially like the "Chirp" design!
