You Don't Say...


Evidently we've been bamboozled all along about how Van Gogh lost his ear. At least that is the claim. It's been the favorite story for art history teachers to relate for ages and it turns out it may have all been earsay. Sheesh.

I caught this story too and I must say it fascinates me! I like much better to think that he got into a drunken sword wielding brawl with a friend then to think that he was so disturbed that he would slice off one of his own ears.

I had heard this. My great-great-grandfather's best friend was in the drinking whole when this all went down - the same place. He was sworn to secrecy but managed to tell my gg-grand who then swore his son to secrecy, who then...
